He was angry at being ejected from the High Street nightspot following an altercation minutes before.

As security staff attempted to throw him out, he bit the eyebrow of one doorman, causing a large cut to his face.

He then punched him a number of times in the back as he was being thrown out.

But McMahan returned soon after, this time in a car, which he drove at the wooden gates of the bar, on the corner of Beach Street .

He caught the doorman's legs with the vehicle.

As he drove off from the scene, he crashed into two parked cars.

McMahan, of Blackburn Road, Greenhill, was later arrested and charged.

He admitted unlawful wounding and dangerous driving and was jailed for two years and three months at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday.

He also admitted harassment, in relation to threatening messages he sent to a woman in January this year.

Detective Inspector Julien Lawton said: "McMahan's actions on the night of these offences were completely reckless, and it is very lucky nobody was more seriously injured.

"After causing trouble in the venue, he attacked a man who was simply doing his job.

"And after being ejected from the club, he then drove in a way which would have been terrifying to those present.

"He has further offended since the incident and I hope the fact that he is now in jail gives his victims a sense that justice has been done."
