A seaside cafe owner has posted CCTV footage online apparently showing a lout smashing his shop window.

The grainy footage is taken from security cameras at Makcari's in Central Parade, Herne Bay.

It shows a young man, possibly wearing a woolen-style hat, kicking a flower container in the street.

He then approaches the cafe window and is seen kicking the side of the building.

Owner Hassan Hassan said: "It was a signed window and we reckon that'll cost us £2,000 to fix.

"Nothing was taken. This is just a bloke vandalising our property for the sake of it.

"It's been reported to police. The footage isn't great but someone out there must recognise him."

The incident happened at around 12.30am this morning.

A police spokesman said: "Officers were called at 10.53am to a report of criminal damage at Makcaris restaurant in Herne Bay.

"It was reported that a window had been smashed overnight. Enquiries are ongoing including a review of any possible CCTV footage."
