A four-year-old boy and his mum had to be pulled to safety after getting stuck in mud off Herne Bay.

Fire crews were called to the Neptune's Arm off Central Parade at about 4pm.

An inflatable stretcher was used to reach the pair, who were dragged to safety by the side of the pier.
