A four-year-old boy and his mum had to be pulled to safety after getting stuck in mud off Herne Bay.
Fire crews were called to the Neptune's Arm off Central Parade at about 4pm.
An inflatable stretcher was used to reach the pair, who were dragged to safety by the side of the pier.
The coastguard, paramedics and police were also sent to the scene after the young boy got stuck while looking for crabs.
Elsewhere, the coastguard was forced to rescue a man stuck in mud off Littlestone on the Romney Marsh this afternoon.
