A motorcyclist was flung six feet in the air in a horror crash in Canterbury Road near Herne Common this afternoon.
The accident happened after the bike was in collision with a bus, sending both the rider and machine flying into the air and slamming back into the tarmac.
Danny Jonez, 21, was travelling back to Herne Bay on the top deck of different bus when he saw the incident.
He said: “He was spread across the floor after landing on his bike.
“The bike was quite smashed up and lots of people were getting around him to help. It left big gouge in the road where it had smashed.”
Ambulance crews were called to help the biker while police closed off the road and directed traffic away from the area.
The stretch of road between Wildwood Wildlife Park and Bullockstone Road has been the scene of repeated accidents and motorcycle crashes in recent weeks.
Mr Jonez said that safety along the stretch of the A291 was a major worry for many motorcyclists.
He added: “It made me horrified as someone as who has been on a bike to be honest. My parents are motorbike riders and I would hate something like that to happen.
“I think the speed on that road should be lower, there are a lot of accidents which happen there. I would advise drivers to slow down and to think about bikes going round the bend.”
Kent Ambulance spokesman Rich Airey said two ambulances were sent to the scene near Busheyfields Road near Canterbury Garden Centre.
The man suffered pain to his arms and legs and was treated at the scene before being taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate.
