Video has emerged of the dramatic moment a car caught fire after it was involved in a crash in the middle of a busy street.

Footage shared online shows a VW Beetle engulfed in flames perilously close to shops and flats in Station Road, Herne Bay, last night.

Fire crews were called to the scene shortly before 6pm and the car was alight when they arrived.

The video was shot by James Adshead, 24, who witnessed the aftermath of the three-car crash.

“The Beetle had literally started smouldering as I drove past,” he said.

“I saw one lady fairly shaken up.”

The blaze was tackled by a crew of four firefighters who were at the scene for around half-an-hour.
