FIRE broke out in a children's indoor play centre but nobody was seriously hurt.
The worst injury, smoke inhalation, was sustained by one of the adult workers at the venue - the Hippodrome in King's Road, Herne Bay.
All the children inside jumping on the bouncy castle, enjoying the climbing apparatus or in the sandpit were led to safety.
Others, playing a few hundred yards away in nearby Memorial Park, reported hearing a loud bang just after the fire started at about 1.30pm on Tuesday.
Thick smoke shattered the window panes and billowed out, obscuring the view for the crowd of onlookers that gathered.
Firefighters from Herne Bay and Whitstable cordoned off the road and an ambulance crew treated people at the scene for smoke inhalation and shock.
It is unclear at this stage how the fire started. It is believed building work was going on within a closed area inside the building.
