Fire crews took on a blaze in a field of cut corn and stubble.

They were called to the scene at Reculver Lane, Herne Bay, at 3pm yesterday.

The firefighters worked with the landowner to make fire breaks to help wipe out the flames.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said that the blaze was over half a hectare of land and crews were able to finish their task within two hours.

Two fire engines were called out.
