Herne Bay air show organisers have added the only remaining airworthy Sea Vixen fighter jet to this year’s bulging line-up.
Leaders at the BayPromoTeam, who brought almost 70,000 people to the town for last year’s show, confirmed the booking this morning.
It now means a total of 22 display teams and 47 aircraft will be taking part in the event on Sunday, August 14 - including 18 jets.
Show organiser Gerald McCarthy said: "We are delighted that we have finally been able to negotiate a mutually agreeable rate with the Sea Vixen team, this is a jet capable - in a shallow dive - of supersonic speeds and its inclusion at our event is a real bonus.
"I've always been in awe of Eastbourne Air Show's huge line-up, a benchmark to aim for in terms of number of aircraft and display teams, and at this moment, certainly on a one-day, like for like basis, we've overtaken them in terms numbers of participating jets, teams, and aircraft, which is quite surreal.
"We've a long way to go in terms of emulating their four-day event, but my goodness, what a show awaits the town next month."
