Five men who took part in a "wild west" brawl in a Herne Bay pub, have been jailed for three years.

Chairs, bar stools, glass and china ashtrays were used as weapons along with a baseball bat and a sock filled with beach pebbles.

The two victims were repeatedly punched and kicked and one spent two months in a wheelchair unable to work because of serious ankle injuries.

The five who started the fracas at the Bun Penny in Central Parade appeared for sentence at Canterbury Crown Court on Monday having admitted violent disorder.

The court heard the defendants wanted revenge for a beating over a drug debt owed by one of the accused, William Cutts to one of the victims, Patrick McMahon.

Mr McMahon suffered fractures and dislocation of both ankles, cuts to his scalp and bruises.

The other victim, Scott Gibbons, had multiple cuts and needed three stitches.

The five jailed were Jamie King, 25, of Underdown Road, Herne Bay; Terrence Hart, 52, and his son Royston Hart, 25, both of The Elders, Littlebourne; Christopher O’Mally, 36, of Rye Walk, Herne Bay and Willliam Cutts, 24, of Orchard Place, Faversham.
