A gun was discovered near the body of a man found dead in a churchyard on the outskirts of Herne Bay.

Emergency crews were called to St Mary's Church in Reculver Lane following the man's death on Saturday, March 10.

It has since emerged a firearm was found at the scene.

Police are not treating the man's death as suspicious.

He was in his 50s and from Suffolk and is believed to have taken his own life.

Next of kin have been informed and a report will now be prepared for the coroner.
