An Indian takeaway in Kent is in the running to be named the UK’s best at the “Curry Oscars”.
Masala Bay in Herne Bay has been shortlisted in the British Curry Awards, which are widely considered the most prestigious in the industry.
The high street eatery, which has an impressive four-and-a-half stars on Trip Advisor, is no stranger to national plaudits.
Only last month it was celebrating being crowned the best takeaway in the south east at the English Curry Awards.
One recent online reviewer of Masala Bay described their meal as “the tastiest curries we have ever had”.
On the other side of Kent, Shampan at the Spinning Wheel in Westerham is on the shortlist for the Best Restaurant South East Award.
Shampan is rated four stars on Trip Advisor, with one recent reviewer describing their meal as “the nicest curry I’ve had in years”.
Another added: “The food is a glorious example of Indian cuisine with seasonal produce wonderfully worked into reimagined dishes.”
Two other Kent restaurants - Jalsha in Sidcup and Shampan Bromley in Bromley - will fight it out in the Best London Suburbs Award.
The winners will be announced on November 29 at a glittering ceremony attended by celebrities at Battersea Evolution in London.
Not in the running is The Shozna in Rochester, which was last month named the nation’s top Indian restaurant at the Curry Life Awards.
