Women inspired by the Calendar Girls are hoping to raise more than £1,000 for charity.

The idea was spawned by Sally Moore, the owner of Salon 123 in the High Street, who hopes to encourage people to regularly check themselves for lumps and to be more body confident.

The 59-year-old battled breast cancer 17 years ago. She was put on a course of radiotherapy and had a bilateral mastectomy.

“I count myself as one of the lucky ones,” she said. “Because I’ve had cancer people can see there’s life after the disease.

“I thought if we could encourage people to be body confident then it helps them to check themselves. We don’t want people to suffer if they don’t have to.”

Thirteen women - aged between 20 and 60 - bared all.

“We were a bit nervous, but the photographer put us all at ease,” Ms Moore added.

“We spent a bit of time planning what kind of poses we’d use and props we’d have. But there was also a lot of emotion because we knew what we were doing it for.

“Everyone involved has been affected by cancer.”

Ms Moore says 250 copies will be sold for £5 at Salon 123, Gardenia Lingerie and the Studio.
