THERE were spooky goings-on at a Kent cinema when a screening of The Spiderwick Chronicles turned surreal for reel.

Dozens of youngsters were left disappointed after a mix-up in the Kavanagh’s projection room, in Herne Bay, meant the ending was screened three-quarters of the way through the film. The customers, mostly children with mums and dads, were all reimbursed at the exit.

Jenny Moore, of Whitstable, went to the Saturday screening of the children's fantasy adventure movie with daughter Jessica, seven, friend Debbie and her daughter Holly, also seven.

“It was obvious a section of the film was missing and it went straight to the ending,” said Ms Moore.

“A man sitting behind me went to speak to the usherette but they carried on showing the film.

“Everyone trooped out after the closing credits to complain and we were offered a refund.

“It was disappointing as my daughter had been looking forward to seeing it".

Martin Dunn , operations director of Reeltime Cinemas, which runs the Kavanagh, said: “We had a problem with the way the reels were delivered; we had the last two in the wrong order.

“It was very unfortunate but this happens at every cinema. The manager apologised at the time and we gave every person a refund.”
