Rio? No, Herne Bay as festival gets off to rousing start

A touch of Brazilian brashness came to Herne Bay for the town festival opening procession.

Fiesta Fiesta workshops encouraged people to take up the Rio theme for a parade that had energy and enthusiasm, colour and costume.

Chief organiser Cassy Fry said: “It was fantastic to see so many families taking part in the procession.

"They all looked amazing in their turquoise carnival costumes.”
