Herne Bay’s only comedy night continues this week with an award-winning line-up at The Front.
The newly-opened seafront bar is hosting the evening of laughs on Wednesday, fresh from the success of On The Front’s launch last month.
Morose funnyman Mike Gunn and maverick comic Otiz Cannelloni will take star-billing, with OyOyster Whitstable Comedy Club founder Nick Wilty compering.
Fresh from supporting Lee Mack on his huge UK tour, Mike is bringing his pessimistic personality and cynical outlook on life to east Kent.
His close-to-the-edge brand of comedy has seen him headline top venues in the UK and perform internationally, taking him as far afield as Australia, where he completed a five-week sell-out season.
Mike – whose stand-up is cultivated by a misspent youth and a series of grim jobs - also has two solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival to his name, so his appearance is a real coup for The Front.
Otiz Cannelloni is billed by promoters as a man best summed up as “a crazy children's entertainer meeting an even madder messed-up magician”.
He is revered by his peers as a “comic’s comic”, captivating audiences with his combination of magic and stand-up.
It’s said his act defies description, which isn’t so hard to believe when told his influences include Laurel and Hardy, William Shatner and Bob Marley.
Tickets (£10 in advance or £12 on the door) are available online at www.onthefront.co.uk, from The Front in Central Parade, or Music Bay in Mortimer Street.
