A long-awaited soft play centre in Herne Bay is set to finally open its doors to families next month.

Tiny Town was due to launch last summer, yet bosses were pushed back to square one following extensive flooding at the Sea Street venue.

Having started again from scratch, the finishing touches are now being added to the centre ahead of its unveiling on Saturday, April 2.

Tiny Town will be the final firm to take up residence at the former Wahl male grooming warehouse, which shut three years ago.

Aimed primarily at youngsters under the age of 10, the new site will incorporate role play and soft play activities for children to "get lost in their own world" as they burn off energy.

A spokesman for the firm said: "We were continuously hearing that Herne Bay lacked children's play activities, with parents having to travel quite a distance in order to be able to provide these experiences for their children.

"Travel is especially difficult for those parents that do not drive as public transport can be difficult to manage with several little ones in tow."

"Hot and cold beverages including slush and pre-packaged snacks are on offer with further food options being available in the future."

Play sessions are 90 minutes in length and cost £7.50 for a child ticket, which includes one adult entry.

There are to be four play sessions per day, with cleaning taking place in between.

Initially, the firm will only be accepting pre-booked entry due to the high level of interest.

"Secondly, we believe it is important to limit numbers to ensure those attending are able to enjoy everything on offer during their session," the company added.

Tiny Town will be just the second soft-play centre in Herne Bay, joining the Hippodrome in King’s Road.

Its arrival comes after Playzone in Eddington Lane, which employed eight members of staff, was shut down during the pandemic.

A bid to transform it into a warehouse and health clinic was given the green light last year.
