A man has been bailed until September after he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving while over the drink-drive limit after a teenager died in a crash on Friday morning.
The 19-year-old from the Herne Bay area suffered fatal injuries in the smash on the A291 Canterbury Road near the junction with Bullockstone Road.
The accident happened just before 2am, when a black Volkswagen Golf travelling towards Herne Bay veered off the road and crashed.
The teenager was declared dead at the scene.
A 24-year-old man from Canterbury was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving with excess breath alcohol.
He has been bailed until September 30.
Another male passenger was taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate with serious injuries, including a suspected broken leg.
Officers from the serious collision investigation unit attended the scene and started an investigation.
The road was closed for almost 10 hours, but re-opened just before midday.
Senior investigating officer Detective Sergeant Scott Lynch said: "I'm appealing for anybody who may have seen the black Golf in the Canterbury area prior to the collision or who may have witnessed the collision itself to call us on 01622 798538."
