The streets of Herne Bay came alive with colour as thousands turned out to enjoy a fabulous Herne Bay Carnival.
The event proved a real success as hundreds of clubs, associations, businesses and individuals took part in the main parade on Saturday evening.
Organisers and revellers have praised the mood it created, and believe it has easily outshone the dismal display of Whitstable’s Carnival a week earlier.
Carnival chairman Andy Birkett said: “I think it went really well. A lot of work goes into putting it on, and a lot of work goes into the entries.
“You can’t underestimate our thanks as a committee to those people that get off their backsides and make a big effort for the town.
“It means that the people who live here are the real winners.
“We’ve shown the creativity that the town has got is unbelievable and enormous compared to other towns. It’s absolutely fabulous to stand and watch entry after entry taking time out to come and join us.
“We had horsepower at the front with the motorbikes, and horsepower at the back with the Furious Angels on horseback from Mote View Riding Club.”
Work now starts on next year’s carnival, pencilled in for Saturday, August 8. Visit www.hernebaycarnival.co.uk
