Emergency services were called to a beach after a woman and child got stuck in the mud.
Photographs shared with KentOnline show police, fire crews and coastguard officers at the scene at about 4.20pm today near Neptune's Arm in Herne Bay .
Eyewitnesses say the pair needed assistance after getting bogged down on the seafront.
They are understood to have been pulled from danger just after 4.40pm, with one having to clamber onto a platform before being dragged to safety.
A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said "We were called to reports of two people stuck in mud near Central Parade in Herne Bay.
"Two fire engines and a water safety unit attended, and a woman and a child were led to safety by crews.
"Kent Police and the Coastguard were also in attendance."
