A woman was found dead along a railway line after being hit by a train.
Police and paramedics were called to Herne Bay railway station just after 5.20pm yesterday, following reports of a casualty on the line.
But the woman could not be saved, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
"A file will be prepared for the coroner."
Following the incident, no trains ran between Faversham and Margate.
Southeastern officials confirmed the track between the two stations was switched off, with passengers offered a replacement bus service instead.
The line was later reopened, but there remained disruption until about 10pm.
