Yobs have left behind a trail of damage after chucking brightly coloured paint over people’s cars.
Police have received ten official complaints at locations across Herne Bay, where colours such as pink, yellow and black have been squirted over paintwork on cars parked overnight.
This morning an elderly man found his car had been targeted by the vandals at the Memorial Park. Mum Christene Wilmont spotted the car while taking her children to school.
On Facebook she said: “I’m absolutely horrified this is happening in Herne Bay, especially to the elderly man who has to clean up this mess.
“It’s the third car we have seen in a week, I bet the poor fella is gutted that it’s happened. He seemed to be a really nice guy.”
Meanwhile on Wednesday night Maria Grenham said her 17-year-old daughter’s car was also attacked.
Police spokesman Jon Green said since July 8, incidents have been reported across Herne Bay. In the town centre there have been two reports in Hanover Street, one in King’s Road and one in Richmond Street.
In Herne and Broomfield two cars have been damaged in Hunters Chase, one in School Lane and one in Margate Road. There have also been two reported incidents in Reculver Road in Beltinge.
Jon Green said: “Since July 8 there have been at least ten crime reports where vehicles in Herne Bay have had paint thrown or squirted over them overnight.
“The reports all relate to paint coloured bright pink, green, white, yellow and black and are believed to be poster type paints.
“An investigation has been launched and patrols are keeping a look out for the suspects. Anyone with information about who is responsible is asked to contact Kent Police on 101.”
