Herne Bay’s players have been challenged to dig deep as they tackle a run of five games in nine days.

Bay, who played twice over Easter, go to South Park tonight (Thursday) before visiting Shoreham on Saturday.

Carshalton visit Winch’s Field on Tuesday as the punishing Bostik South schedule continues.

Joint-manager John Embery said: “We’ve challenged the boys. This will show what they’re made of.

“This is where you’ve got to dig deep and find reserves of energy, desire and the will to keep going, producing and performing. That’s what makes you a good player.

“The best players are the ones who can keep relentlessly turning it on, making good decisions and working hard. That’s part of their progression and their learning.”

Bay had won three of their last four games before losing 2-1 at home to Hythe on Easter Monday.

Embery said: “I’d like to think we’ll win both of the two games coming up. Since January, we’ve been good. We’ve dipped out of the top six in the form guide this week but I expect us to go there with good confidence.”

Raphe Brown is back after four months out following a back injury and Alex Mulrooney-Skinner has started training but won’t be considered for selection until next week at the earliest.

Keeper Jordan Carey has twisted his knee but Ben Hunter is back after missing games through illness and work commitments.
