Sam Denly is waiting to find out the extent of Jack Delo’s injury
The Herne Bay goalkeeper was set to return against Dorking Wanderers on Saturday, only to pull out in the warm-up, still feeling discomfort after missing the previous two games.
Delo suffered a jarred knee in the 4-1 defeat at Carshalton last month and boss Denly said:
“It’s still not right and we will have to assess it."
Delo’s absence meant understudy Toby Wood got another chance.
Denly added: “Toby has got a good attitude, having been back-up for Jack this season, and did all right.”
Danny Walder was another surprise name in the Bay line-up. He left the club earlier this season, when budget cuts hit Denly’s plans, signing dual-registration terms with home town club Sheppey United.
Explaining his return, Denly said: “Danny was back to be part of a pre-arranged team picture, as he didn’t have a game.
“He hadn’t wanted to go in the first place. We had a chat in the week and I had no qualms about putting him straight back in and he was outstanding, showing the quality we have been missing.”
Walder returned alongside Danny Williams, Liam Quinn and Joe Nelder against Dorking in the 0-0 draw, and Denly said: “I knew we were strong. It was the side I would have liked to have fielded every week to compete in our league, had the financial situation at the club been different.”
Bay travel to South Park on Saturday, before hosting Ramsgate on Easter Monday.
Both games kick off at 3pm.
Nelder is still struggling with a long-term groin problem, and won't be able to play in both matches, while Ian Pulman is nursing a slight knock.
