There’s certainly been no place like home for Herne Bay this season and manager Sam Denly is relishing another fixture at Winch’s Field this weekend.

Bay have failed to pick up an away Ryman League, Division 1 South League victory this season but have won seven of their nine home games ahead of Saturday’s visit of Tooting & Mitcham.

Speaking after last Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Folkestone Invicta, Denly said: “It’s so frustrating because our home form has been excellent but our away form has been poor.

“But we aren’t doing anything differently and a few of the away defeats have been by the odd goal. If our away form had been a little bit better, we would be right up there. It’s something we will be looking to address.”

One of the odd-goal away defeats was at Tooting & Mitcham at the start of the month and Denly added: “We should never have lost that game because it was a poor goal from our point of view but I am big fan of Tooting.

“They play good football and it’s going to be a hard game.”
