CLUBS in the Macdonald Mailing Herne Bay and Whitstable Sunday Football League are to be asked to back a move which will make it harder to play unregistered players.
A rule change going before next Tuesday’s annual meeting proposes that clubs provide two passport-style pictures of all players.
One photo would be retained by the registration secretary while the other would be returned to the club with the counterfoil to be presented to the opposition on match days.
The aim of the rule is to make it more difficult for clubs to use individuals who are not registered. At the moment unscrupulous clubs can play a player in someone else’s name with little fear unless the ‘ringer’ is recognised.
Clubs will also be asked to vote to raise the league entry fee to £60. The league council are recommending four new teams to be admitted - Share and Coulter, Flying Horse, Pearsons and Bridge.
In his first report as league chairman, Trevor Redmayne says he has been disturbed by the amount of criticism committee members receive especially when attending games with their own teams.
The meeting is at the Marine Hotel, Marine Parade, Tankerton, 7.30pm for 8pm.
