Sam Denly is vowing not to rush Lee Browning’s return after he was knocked out during Herne Bay’s Ryman League, Division 1 South derby against play-off rivals Ramsgate on Saturday.

Browning and Rams’ Nick Treadwell were taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford after both suffered severe concussion in a first-half clash of heads.

They were released later in the evening after undergoing scans and being given the all-clear.

The match was abandoned at half-time as the players continued to be treated in the dressing room by paramedics, before Browning was transferred by air ambulance, with Treadwell transported by road.

Boss Denly said: “We will be monitoring and assessing Lee during the week and I will also be taking advice from physios and medical staff. The decision when to play again will be entirely down to him.

“It wasn’t nice to see and their condition became even more of a worry at half-time.”

Browning was visited later by team-mates Mark Lovell and Danny Walder and Denly said: “The boys are a tight-knit group and all stick together.

“I must also thank our physio Gemma Horswell who dealt with the whole situation and showed her worth.”
