Herne Bay are still waiting to find out what action the Ryman League will take after Danny Williams played in a game last month when he was suspended.

The striker started the Division 1 South game against Hastings at Winch’s Field on December 20, only to be replaced after eight minutes, when club officials realised the mistake. They subsequently reported the matter to the league. Bay lost the game 2-0.

Boss Sam Denly said: “Things are on-going. We have been contacted this week and asked to submit our version of events about what happened. Danny has been asked to do the same.”

Bay hope to be back in action at bottom side Horsham on Saturday, after last week’s game at South Park was postponed.

The trip to Reigate was the only fixture to be lost to the weather, but Bay will again be keeping an eye on conditions, with heavy rain and freezing temperatures forecast.

They won 1-0 at Carshalton on Saturday, only their fifth league win of the season.

Danny Walder misses the game with a one-match ban held over from last week, while new signing Mark Lovell is unavailable.

Meanwhile the club are planning to re-form the club’s Supporters Association, and have organised an open meeting on Wednesday, January 28 (8pm) to discuss the idea.
