Herne Bay Tennis Club officially opened their new facilities at the Herne Bay Sports Hub on Sunday.
The 130-year-old club’s new home is part of the 15-acre complex developed by Quinn Estates and boasts six brand new all-weather courts and a clubhouse.
Members were invited to mark the occasion with the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Cllr Pat Todd and Lady Mayoress Dr Elizabeth McGowan. The cutting of the ribbon was accompanied by the fine Wimbledon tradition of strawberries and cream.
Club chair Isobel Warnock was delighted with the turnout of the club’s juniors, guided by coach Guy Farmer, as they prepare for a new programme beginning in the autumn.
“Herne Bay Tennis Club is so proud of these new facilities and we would love to welcome new members of all ages,” she said.
“From beginners new to the game like our juniors, through to experienced players and veterans.”
