Herne Bay boss Sam Denly admits Danny Spiller's arrival at Winch's Field has given everyone at the club a huge lift.
Denly described the signing of the former Gillingham and Luton Town midfielder as a “massive coup” for the Ryman League Division 1 South club.
He said: “Danny just wanted to get involved, but it’s a case of easing him in gently.
“He suffered a bit of a reaction after the game, but showed his quality, and could play a massive part in our remaining 13 games of the season. It’s a massive bonus, the whole club is buzzing.
“He was brilliant and enjoyed great banter with the boys, who absolutely loved it.”
Spiller could be reunited with another former Gills team-mate Roland Edge, now coach at Folkestone Invicta who visit Winch's Field on Saturday.
Denly added: “We are unbeaten in six games, everybody involved is working very hard and I think we are in the best place we have been since I took the job.
“Jack Delo has kept five clean sheets in a row which is another great record, and has largely gone unnoticed.”
Harry Brown is available again after completing a ban and Denly also hinted he was close to signing another player, but was unsure if the deal would go through before the weekend.
