John Embery wants Herne Bay to play a more patient game in Saturday’s derby clash at Ramsgate.
Bay go into the game on the back of three successive home draws against Molesey, East Grinstead and Horsham.
Joint-boss Embery felt his side became anxious when they failed to score early against Horsham on Tuesday and has called for cooler heads at the weekend.
He said: “We got a little bit frustrated and forced things. We’ll work on being a bit more patient, knowing that it will come as long as we keep doing the right things.
“We’re looking to be nice and solid again and more consistent for the whole game. We’ve started the last few games well but couldn’t carry it on.
“Ramsgate is the windiest pitch on the planet. Every time I go there, it’s gale force so I’m hoping it won’t be on Saturday.
“I think it’s going to be a good game. They’re scrapping for points and the way results have fallen recently, things have worked out well for us. We’ve still picked up points and we’re only four points off the play-offs.
“We’re in a good position. We’ve just got to keep working hard and doing the right things.
“We’ll have to show a lot of desire on Saturday because whenever you play a derby game, you’ve got to want to win the battle and roll your sleeves up.
“They’ll try to pass the ball, they’ve got some good players we know about and we’re looking forward to it.”
Alex Mulrooney-Skinner went for a scan on Wednesday to investigate possible sciatica, although he could be back playing next weekend.
Embery and Jermaine Darlington otherwise have a full squad to pick from in contrast to Tuesday night.
