A CHARITY golf day is being staged at Herne Bay’s Eddington course next month in memory of popular sportsman Nick Delo.

Mr Delo, who died last year at the age of 55, represented Kent and England at cricket as a youngster and also served a number of local football clubs including Whitstable, Chislet, Blean, and Rising Sun.

The golf day, which will be an 18-hole individual Stableford, is being held on Friay, September 29, and entry costs £40. Prizes will awarded to the top three as well as for the best gross score and there will also be nearest the pin and longest drive prizes.

A rolling buffet will be provided in the clubhouse with a disco starting at 8pm.

Sponsors are being sought, at a cost of £100 per hole, with all proceeds from the day being donated to the Kent Air Ambulance.
