Herne Bay’s chances of Isthmian Premier survival were massively boosted as they earned a victory at Carshalton on Saturday.

They made it three wins in four matches, with all the goals coming after the restart.

Striker Marcel Barrington broke the deadlock and, despite the hosts hitting back, Barrington appeared to make it 2-1 - although Bay debutant Jerson Dos Santos has since attempted to claim that goal too.

Kevin Watson’s troops sealed their 3-1 win when on-loan Hastings defender Finn O’Mara scored in the last 10 minutes to leave Herne Bay just two points behind fifth-bottom Kingstonian.

Scott Heard had an eventful game in Folkestone’s 2-1 home loss to Lewes.

The midfielder cancelled out Deon Moore’s first-half opener in front of a crowd of 863 at Cheriton Road, only to be sent off in the 84th minute for a second bookable offence. Moore then struck again at the death to earn Lewes the points.

There were two sent-off in Cray Wanderers’ 1-0 victory at basement boys Brightlingsea which moves them within three points of the play-off places.

The hosts lost Jermaine Anderson to a second booking shortly after the hour mark and Destiny Oladipo, formerly of Faversham and Ramsgate, came off the bench to score and put Cray ahead.

Neil Smith’s side lost goalkeeper Shaun Rowley to a late red card but held on to earn the points.

Margate were beaten 1-0 at home to third-placed Aveley as defender Harry Gibbs bagged the only goal just before half-time.

Bottom side Faversham kept their hopes of an unlikely Isthmian South East escape alive with a 2-1 triumph against Burgess Hill.

Frontman Shola Ayoola gave the Lilywhites the lead at Salters Lane before defender Oliver Gray scored at both ends.

The Hillians had managed to pull one back despite having substitute Lewis Taylor sent off, but they couldn’t find a leveller.

Top proved too strong for bottom, Ramsgate claiming a 3-2 victory at basement boys Corinthian.

Striker Rowan Liburd bagged a second hat-trick in as many league fixtures for Jamie Coyle’s Rams while attacker Ahmed Salim Futa and Oscar Housego - with a penalty - netted for the hosts in vain.

Second-placed Chatham remain four points adrift of the summit after they earned a 4-2 victory at Chichester.

Player-assistant manager Danny Kedwell and Che Krabbendam put Kevin Hake’s men in charge.

Chichester got one back, only for a penalty from midfielder Jack Evans to make it 3-1.

Again, the home team cut the deficit back down to one on 82 minutes, but frontman Ashley Nzala added a fourth to round off Chatham's win.

Fifth-placed Cray Valley beat relegation-threatened Haywards Heath 3-1.

Striker Adam Coombes broke the deadlock, although Haywards Heath levelled things up after the restart.

Fourth-bottom VCD boosted their survival prospects with a 1-0 home win over Lancing. Striker Soul Kader got the only goal shortly before the half-hour mark.
