Herne Bay boss Steve Lovell looking to build on successive Isthmian South East wins in Kent Senior Cup quarter-final tie at Tonbridge Angels

Steve Lovell wants his Herne Bay players to build on successive league wins at Tonbridge tonight.

Bay, fresh from Saturday’s Isthmian South East 1-0 home win over promotion-chasing Beckenham after their topsy-turvy 4-3 triumph against Three Bridges at Winch’s Field last midweek, will head to Longmead for their Kent Senior Cup quarter-final tie.

Bay boss Lovell may make some changes to give squad players minutes but the Welshman won’t take the fixture lightly.

“We’re looking forward to going there,” he said. “I’m taking all the first-team squad and approaching it as if it was a league game.

“It’s important we try and keep the momentum going. I’m not taking it lightly.

“But if there’s some players that need an opportunity, they will probably get the chance to put on a decent showing.

“I’m not sure what Jay [Saunders, Tonbridge’s boss] will do but I just want us to go out and give them a good game.”

The match will see Herne Bay defender Jack Parter return to the club where he made his mark in senior football.

Lovell’s team have reached this stage thanks to wins over Erith Town (5-1) and Margate (3-0), with frontman Kane Rowland netting three goals in those two games.

National League South side Tonbridge, 1-0 weekend winners at Weymouth as midfielder Jeremy Santos scored, beat Beckenham 6-1 in the second round.
