SHOOTER Nathan Milgate is in Poland this week competing in his penultimate competition before finding out if he will be selected for the Paralympic Games in Beijing in September.
The 20-year-old who lives in Studd Hill, Herne Bay, flew out with the rest of the Great Britain squad from Heathrow on Tuesday, ahead of the 5th Polish Open taking place at Szczecin on the German/Polish border.
Nathan, one of five recipients of a £3,000 grant in P&O Ferries Talented Athlete Programme announced last month, will shoot in his two specialist disciplines, Air Rifle Prone, and Air Rifle Standing.
He spent last week at Bisley preparing for the trip with the GB squad under team manager Pasan Kulratne and said: "It was good training and preparation, with practice competitions and checking all the technical aspects were correct."
The Beijing squad was originally due to be announced in February, but was put back until May, due to what Nathan describes as "logistical problems", but he is confident about being selected.
