A visit to Mimozas Resort in Mandelieu will wash away any fears you might have that the Cote d’Azur is not a place for children.
While the area, which is often frequented by the stars, screams love and romance, there is plenty to appeal to families, starting with this resort.
The 4-star property is situated on a hillside above the town, overlooking a golf course on one side and a lake on the other.
It consists of more than 200 homely one, two and three bed apartments in Provençal-style buildings, offering a level of space and comfort you wouldn’t find in a hotel, and for a cut of the price.
Its extensive grounds boast safe areas for children to play including an astro sports pitch and tennis courts.
There is also a large swimming area with freshly cooked pizzas available pool-side and a complimentary kids club throughout July and August.
But it’s the location - a mere five minutes’ walk from Mandelieu beach and a 10-minute drive from Cannes on the French Riviera - that makes it so ideal.
Outside of the resort’s gates is an array of majestic views of Ile St. Marguerite and St. Honorat that are not to be missed.
Sandy beaches for picnics, fishing and sea sports are also at your fingertips.
Mimozas offers electric bike hire, available from its reception. The fold up bikes can go for up to 60 kilometres or five hours and is a fun activity to suit all ages.
If it’s culture you’re looking for, Chateau de La Napoule is located only a 10-minute stroll away.
The charming medieval castle is perched dramatically on the edge of the Mediterranean. It hosts exhibitions and workshops plus treasure hunts for young visitors and is open to the public every day, all year round.
In the evenings, enjoy a family meal at a traditional restaurant such as the popular La Pomme D’Amour which continues to receive rave reviews.
Alternatively Mimozas’ new chef Alexandre Licakis creates a mouth-watering buffet for fish and meat lovers as well as options for youngsters.
The area still offers plenty of variety for adults who want to experience the glitz and glamour of the French Riviera.
Admire Cannes’ lavish yachts while sipping champagne cocktails at the Radisson Blu, before heading to the city’s designer shops.
Or take a ride through the romantic roads in a classic car, which can be booked through the resort.
Women will rejoice at the sensational spa facilities on site at Mimozas. A selection of Yon Ka treatments are available from only €20.
While men can take in the Cote d’Azur sunshine on the oldest golf course in the Mediterranean.
The famous Old Course created by the Grand Duke Michel of Russia in 1891 boasts one 18 holes and two 9 holes courses.
Mimozas has recently been taken over by Splash Hospitality.
Led by president Ray Byrne, they are the masters behind the 4-star Ice House Hotel and Spa in Ballina, Ireland.
Renovations are in full flow in a bid to raise the standards of hospitality in the area and to put Mimozas on the map.
