POLICE are appealing for information after an incident on the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway.
A train driver travelling between Hythe and Dungeness saw an obstruction on the track at the Taylor Road level crossing.
He slowed down and the front guard of the train knocked the obstruction, which was a large cube-shaped piece of concrete, off the track.
Police say the incident happened on June 9 at about 11.15am. PC Ed Ruffle, of Ashford police, said: “Whoever ever put the concrete on the track was very irresponsible.
"This could have resulted in severe damage to the train, not to mention causing injuries to passengers and the crew. I would like to hear from anyone who has information about this incident.”
PC Ruffle can be contacted on 01233 896286. Alternatively call Crimestoppers Hotline on 0800 5551111. Calls to Crimestoppers are free, you do not have to give your name and you may be eligible for a reward.
