A dad struck by a lorry on the M20 near the Channel Tunnel has been named.

The inquest looking into the death of Michael Moore, 72, opened today at the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone.

It revealed he left his home in Blackhouse Hill, Hythe on the morning of last Thursday.

When the retired postal worker did not return family became concerned.

It was later confirmed the pensioner had died after being struck by a lorry between Junction 11A and 12.

A post-mortem confirmed he died as a result of multiple injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a person being treated in the road and at least five ambulances.

The incident resulted in long delays on the motorway, as police carried out inquiries.

A full inquest will take place at the same venue on Tuesday, December 17.
