Firefighters from the Folkestone station were called out at 6.30pm yesterday .

A station spokesman said: “The scene was awkward to get to because it was inside woodland. We had to leave the pump by the roadside and walk in with a 120 metre hose.’’

The crew put out the bonfire and called the gas board to repair the main.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was at the scene for one-and-a-half to two hours.
