The Morsia fitness app, which has been soaring up the App Store charts, is the latest successful venture from a Kent YouTuber.

Matt Morsia, 35, who lives in Hythe, previously told KentOnline how he transformed his life by ditching his teaching job to become the UK's number one fitness vlogger.

The bodybuilder's YouTube channel MattDoesFitness has gone from strength to strength over the past two years, with the number of subscribers doubling to 2.1 million.

But it is the launch of the Morsia app - providing customised training programmes and diet plans - which has lifted the former Folkestone Academy PE teacher to new heights.

It now has in the region of 10,000 subscribers, each paying about £98 a year.

So despite the dad-of-two making almost £300,000 alone from YouTube in 2020, its not hard to see why the Morsia app has become his biggest revenue stream.

The app was launched by Matt, wife Sarah, 35, and brother Ben, 24, in 2020.

Since then, it has been downloaded by more than 130,000 people, seeing it recently hit third in the App Store charts for fitness apps.

Matt says these are "exciting times" and the growing popularity of the app is both "mad" and "awesome".

Over the past 12 months he has also released a book, opened three Morsia gyms - in student halls at Loughborough, Guildford and Nottingham - and welcomed the arrival of baby boy Mauro.

So is he tempted to sit back, put his feet up and take a break from the relentless pressure of creating content for his MattDoesFitness channel?

"I still love making videos," said Matt.

"I loved doing it even when I was making no money at all - so there's no way I'm giving up.

"Plus, at the moment the growth of the app is still dependent on me promoting it in my YouTube videos.

"But the ultimate goal is for the app to be its own entity which grows organically and isn't reliant on me promoting it."

Matt says the app is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced lifters.

"Whether you want to lose fat, build muscle, get stronger, fitter or faster and even train from home with no equipment, whatever your goals, we have you covered," he said.
