It was a scene more familiar to Monte Carlo than Kent as dozens of Ferrari cars took over a hotel car park today.

Turning the Hythe Imperial Hotel into a temporary Ferrari forecourt, the sports cars have drawn huge amounts of attention around the town.

The stop in Hythe was part of the route to Italy from London where drivers had their own pit-stop and fuelled up with some lunch.

They are taking part in a rally to the Italian car maker's home town of Maranello, near Modena.

The rally marks the 70th anniversary of the famous car company this weekend.

To celebrate the landmark, 450 vehicles are making their way from nine cities across Europe back to their birthplace.

The five-day parade will see them take over Milan on Friday night before heading south towards Parma and Modena on Saturday.

Their arrival in Kent sparked a flurry of comments and posts on Facebook and Twitter.

Posting on Instagram, the Hythe Imperial's official account said: "Flying the flag for #ferrari ?? for our guests today before they start their journey!"

Others took to Facebook, with Simone Leader saying: "Wondered why I see so many Ferraris driving through Dymchurch."

Fiona Ayling added: "They've all just driven past my house, an amazing sight."
