Three people have been taken to hospital after a car left the road and ploughed into a bus stop outside a supermarket.

Police were called just after 11am to reports of the crash near the Waitrose supermarket on the A259 Prospect Road.

A blue Citroen Berlingo was travelling towards Dymchurch when it collided with a Vauxhall Astra - which was travelling in the same direction - and the bus stop.

She said: "It looked as if the blue car had gone into the bus stop quite solidly.

"The car is a write-off and the whole bus shelter is shattered.

"It looked like it was a big impact and there were a lot of emergency services there."

The male driver of the Citroen was taken to hospital, as well as the female driver of the Vauxhall involved and her female passenger.

All three were not thought to have serious injuries.
