Staff and students at a college have received a special message from sporting legend Jonny Wilkinson.

Pupils were wowed when the England Rugby hero posted a video to Brockhill Park Performing Arts College in Hythe via Instagram.

In the video, which was shared on the college's page, the 41-year-old star commended the students and staff for "all the hard work, commitment and dedication, and striving for better during such incredibly difficult times".

Mr Wilkinson, who was born in Surrey and found international fame when he kicked the winning drop-kick in the 2003 Rugby World Cup Final, also shone a light on the importance of health and wellbeing.

He said: "All the greatest achievements in life are through people seeking more and more health and wellbeing, and what that really entails.

"Stay curious, stay excited, stay interested in what's happening inside you more than what's happening around you.

"Keep doing what you're doing, and I think you guys could be at the centre of an amazing transformation happening all around the world."

This is not the first time the rugby pro has sent out a message to Kent residents.

In 2019, he passed on a message of support to Sheppey RFC after the team suffered back-to-back relegations.

Mr Wilkinson said setbacks in his career made him the player he was – one of England’s all-time greats – and challenged Sheppey to do the same.
