Police have confirmed that a woman in her 90s has died at a Kent beach this morning
Concern had been raised for the welfare of the woman this morning, with eight police cars, a fire engine and an ambulance attending the scene near a BP garage on Princess Parade in Seabrook, Hythe, at about 7.30am.
Officers have now identified the woman and have confirmed that next of kin have been informed.
A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said emergency service workers did everything they could.
"Ambulance crews attended but sadly despite the effort of everyone involved, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene," said the spokesperson.
Witnesses had reported seeing emergency service workers covering up what appeared to be a body with a large blue tarpaulin.
A police spokesperson said: "Kent Police was called following concern for a woman near Princes Parade, Hythe at 7.20am on Wednesday.
"Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service and a woman in her 90s was pronounced deceased at the scene.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
