Floral tributes left at Seabrook beach near Hythe where woman in her 90s died

A woman aged in her 90s who died on a Kent beach has been described as "the sweetest nan" in heartbreaking floral tributes left at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the shore at Seabrook, between Folkestone and Hythe, on Wednesday morning after concern was raised about the woman's welfare.

Eight police cars, a fire engine and an ambulance attended the scene near the BP garage on Princess Parade at about 7.30am.

"Ambulance crews attended but sadly despite the effort of everyone involved, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene," a spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said later that day.

Flowers have been placed on a fence at the scene, along with words of grief on handwritten notes.

One describes the woman as caring and the "sweetest nan".

The notes also suggest that she had walked some distance to the beach.
