M20 death crash victim named

POLICE have named a motorist killed in a crash on the M20 near Maidstone at the weekend as 41-year-old Christopher Harrington.

Mr Harrington, a computer consultant, was travelling home to Hythe, where he lived with his mother, when he was involved in an accident between the Detling and Hollingbourne junctions.

His blue Peugeot 306 was involved in a collision with a black VW Passat at about 8.45pm on Friday. A family of four in the Passat escaped with minor injuries.

A police spokeswoman said: “It appears, at this stage, that the Peugeot struck the nearside barrier of the coastbound carriageway, overturned and came to a rest in lane three.

“But Kent Police also urgently want witnesses to this fatal crash to help investigators find out exactly what happened.

"We know that other drivers on both sides of the road would have seen what happened and if they haven’t yet come forward we would urge them to call us on 01622 600970.”

Mr Harrington worked in London. The coroner has been informed of his death and an inquest will be held.
