Tim Dixon hailed the attitude and quality of his Hythe players after they flew back from Guernsey as winners.
After questioning the desire of some members of his squad in recent weeks, Dixon was full of praise for the way they approached the trip across the Channel.
He said: "It’s alien to us, to travel on a plane for 40 minutes to an island.
"We were in a hotel the night before, got up at 6am and no-one was late for our meeting at 6.45am.
"We checked in on time and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the lads."
A fantastic goal from Michael Yianni earnt Hythe victory and Dixon made a point of thanking their hosts.
He said: "There are people that are against Guernsey being in the Ryman South because of logistics and problems with travel and I can understand to a certain extent.
"However, they have earned the right to progress to this standard and it comes at a great expense to them to be able to compete.
"The hospitality you experience is first class. It’s something they have mastered and the local people fully embrace it.
"After Saturday’s 1-0 win, a large section of their crowd stayed and applauded our players off the pitch as well as their own which was different class."
