Tony Beckingham has resigned as joint-manager of Hythe Town after just five league games in charge.

Beckingham and Clive Cook succeeded sacked boss Tim Dixon last month but the former East Grinstead manager has quit Reachfields following Hythe's draw against his old club on Saturday.

Cook, who previously served as Scott Porter's assistant manager, will now assume sole charge.

Coach Darren Anslow has left the club with Beckingham but Mark Lane remains as assistant manager.

Hythe chairman Paul Markland said: "Clive and Tony came to us as a managerial pairing based on their long-standing friendship so it’s a shame that things haven’t worked out, however it’s probably better for all concerned to realise this early on.

"We now have a more conventional manager/assistant manager set up. We thank Tony for his support and wish him and Darren all the best for the future."

Hythe, 21st in Ryman League Division 1 South, are away to Whitstable Town on Tuesday night.
