Hythe Town have moved quickly to appoint a new manager following the departure of Sammy Moore.

The Cannons have turned to ex-Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis after Moore resigned on Sunday, despite a 2-1 win over Phoenix in their opening Isthmian South East game.

Davis had three spells in charge of the Brickies, the first as joint-manager, and has also managed Ramsgate and VCD.

The former centre-half is well-known to Cannons chairman Matt Smith having served as assistant manager to Ernie Batten at Sheppey during Smith’s time at Holm Park.

A Hythe statement said: “The Cannons are delighted to announce the appointment of Nick Davis as our new manager.

“With a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success, Nick brings a fresh perspective and dynamic leadership to the team.

Davis played for the likes of VCD, Maidstone, Fisher, Ramsgate, Tonbridge and Sittingbourne before going into management with the Brickies.

He briefly led Bourne to the Isthmian South East summit during his second stint in charge and has also worked as assistant manager at Faversham.

Hythe are without a match this weekend following their early FA Cup exit, meaning Davis’ first game in charge is at Beckenham on August 24.
