Hythe Town striker Sam Conlon had his jaw badly broken on Saturday night.

Conlon played for the Cannons against South Park in the afternoon, the Ryman League Division 1 South fixture ending in a 2-2 draw in Surrey.

But when Conlon and his brother went out in Ashford in the evening, he was attacked.

Hythe manager Tim Dixon said: "Sam was beaten up and he had his jaw fractured in three places.

"He posted a picture on WhatsApp at 2am on Sunday and his face wasn’t in a good way.

"All the lads jumped on that and there were messages going to and fro.

"Sam was taken to hospital, he had surgery on Sunday and he had his jaw wired on Monday.

"He's been released from hospital now.

"I don't know the full story but the police are looking at the CCTV and we're waiting for their report."

Conlon has scored six goals for Hythe since joining from Ashford United in the summer.
