Sam Denly is confident Hythe Town’s dry spell in front of goal will soon be over.

The Cannons have failed to score in their last two games and are still waiting for their first win of 2019.

But with the likes of 26-goal striker Zak Ansah to call on, boss Denly isn’t losing any sleep.

He said: “I’ve got absolutely no concerns in that department.

“We lacked a little bit of creativity in the final third again on Saturday but we’ve got Ansah, (Jack) Sammoutis, Junior (Aikhionbare), Kieron (Campbell) and (Ryan) Palmer, players all across the park who can score goals, so that doesn’t worry me. We’ll be fine.

“The most important thing was getting our problems sorted out at the back, which we’ve done.

“Ollie Rowe was outstanding again on Saturday. We looked solid at the back with George (Kamurasi) behind him so it gives us a good platform and we know the goals will come.”

Hythe have kept three clean sheets in a row and they’re three points off the play-offs in Bostik South East.

They go to promotion rivals VCD Athletic on Saturday looking to make it four matches unbeaten.

Denly said: “There’s a lot of confidence within the team.

“Yes, we’ve struggled a little bit in front of goal but we’re unbeaten
this year and we’re not conceding goals.

“I think there’s still a lot more to come. We haven’t quite got going yet but it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.

“We find ourselves a few points outside the play-offs and there’s 45 points to play for so we’ll be looking to finish as strong as we can.”

Aikhionbare will miss the VCD game after lasting just 12 minutes against Sevenoaks last weekend.

Denly said: “It’s his hamstring again but hopefully not too serious, a couple of weeks I think.

“It’s frustrating because he gets going again and then he’s got another little tweak, which isn’t ideal.

“That’s not helping, players like Junior and Zach Fagan, because we think they’re over it and then he comes back in and he’s off again.

“He felt the hamstring tighten so we had to get him off.”

Fagan is doubtful again on Saturday while Ryan Palmer is suspended after being sent off against Sevenoaks.
